Wanna Cook?: The Complete, Unofficial Companion to Breaking Bad

Definitely an interesting read about one of the greatest shows to ever be put on television. Each chapter is divided into parts such as highlights, interesting facts, did you notice, music, title, camera angles.

City of Liars and Thieves

This novel is based on the first murder trial that was ever recorded in the United States, which is very interesting, however, this book was not. To me the whole book was anticlimactic. Elma Sands leaves her old life behind and starts anew living in her cousin's boardinghouse in New York. With an upcoming election and a city with no clean water, rivals Hamilton and Burr will do anything to get what they want.

Three Daughters

This is a multi-generational story about three women. The first part of the book was really good, telling the story of Miriam and her family in Palestine. The second part of the book was okay, telling the story of Miriam's rebellious daughter, Nadia. The third part of the book was somewhat boring, telling the story of Nadia's daughter, Nijmeh, who moves to America. The book was kind of repetitious for me.

Green on Blue

Green on Blue tells the story of Aziz, a boy growing up in Afghanistan who changes from an innocent child to a man who vows to look after his older brother after their family is killed and he is wounded.  Go through the chaos, fear and heartbreak with Aziz while he gets his revenge.

The Isolation Door

A novel about a young man's experience of growing up with a schizophrenic mother and a loving father. The young man begins studying acting and tries hard to escape from who he truly is and leave his home life behind. Eventually he has to decide whether he can continue hiding in his new life or embrace the situation and return to help his family. The author has a way with words. The story flows together well, the characters are well developed, and I had a hard time putting this book down.

The House We Grew Up In

I didn't like the book from the beginning, but I was hoping it would get better. It never happened. Everyone was tutting and smiling tightly. Going back and forth from past to present was confusing for me. Every problem anyone has ever had in the world, this book has them in it.

Burial Rites

Based on true events, this is an interesting story about Agnus Magnusdottir, the last woman to be executed in Iceland. It feels as though you are with Agnus during her last days, listening as she tells her own version of what happened on the night the two men were killed.

Kane And Abel

I loved this book!! William Kane was born into a wealthy family in Boston. Abel Rosnovski was born into Polish poverty. Both men face setbacks that harden them into determined men who will stop at nothing to succeed.

We Are Not Ourselves

A very, very long, mostly boring, book about Eileen and her family. Lots of unnecessary words in here.. as if the author had a field day with a thesaurus. I began to hate the book about halfway through. I'm happy it's done.

The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes

Genevieve Russell disappeared in 1977. Her remains have been found 20 years later and Tim Gleason has been caught and charged with the murder of both Genevieve and her unborn baby.. only there is no sign of the unborn baby. CeeCee Wilkes knows what happened to Genevieve Russell and she knows what happened to her unborn child. And she also knows that Tim is not guilty of murdering them. This book was SO good!

Bedtime Story

Chris is a struggling writer whose marriage is strained and who doesn't have a great relationship with his eleven year old son, David. He finds and gives David a book, one that he had read as a child, for his birthday, but it's not the book David had wanted. Chris begins reading the book to his son each night before bed, and delights in the fact that David becomes very interested in it, but then the seizures begin. A bit drawn out, but overall a good book.

The Museum of Extraordinary Things

Coralie Sardie is a sheltered young girl growing up in a freak show which her father owns and runs. Eventually her path crosses with Eddie Cohen's, a Russian immigrant and a photographer.

I Hate This Place: The Pessimist's Guide to Life

A few cute sarcastic things in there..

Criminal Masterminds: Evil Geniuses of the Underworld

Read about the lives of some ruthless robbers, devious drug barons, ingenious escape artists, unflappable fraudsters, cold-blooded killers, maverick mobsters, audacious outlaws, covert spies, and terrorist masterminds.

The Secret Life of Bees

Fourteen year old Lily is isolated on the Georgia farm where she lives with her father who physically and emotionally abuses her. Lily's mother was killed when she was a small child, and all she has left of her is an image of a Black Madonna with the words "Tiburon, South Carolina" written on the back. Lily accompanies their housekeeper into town which leads to them running away from home and finding Tiburon, South Carolina. There they stay with bee keeping sisters who help Lily in her quest to find out more about her mother.

The Murderer's Daughters

One dimensional characters in a repetitive, boring story about, you guessed it, murderer's daughters.

Water for Elephants

Water For Elephants is a good, quick read about Jacob Jankowski, who, at 90 (or 93) reflects back on the time he jumped a train and inadvertently joined a travelling circus.

The Cat's Table

For the life of me I can't figure out why I wanted to read this so badly when it first came out. I found this book to be all over the place. It's an overly descriptive, painfully slow book about ZzzZzz. Talking about it bores me.

I Never Promised You A Rose Garden

A semi-autobiographical book about a sixteen year old schizophrenic girl who lives in her dark imaginary world. Her parents take her to a mental hospital where she stays for three years.

I Know My First Name Is Steven

This is the true story of Steven Staynor. A sick old man manipulated seven year old Steven into thinking they were going to talk to his mother about church, but they never made it there. Instead this sick fuck held Steven captive for seven years as his own son moving from one dump to another. It wasn't until the sick bastard kidnapped another boy that Steven decided to escape in hopes of saving the five year old from what he had been through. The story also goes on to tell about the trial and about one arsehole in particular who put himself in charge of the case, who actually didn't do his job at all. The whole thing was basically a joke. Everybody wanted to ignore the fact that sexual acts were committed against Steven, and so everybody DID ignore that fact and the sick fuck got a slap on the wrist. And actually, if you look up the author you'll find he was a sick bastard as well.
